Morgantown's Got Talent

We had our ward talent show tonight.  Brent was involved in the planning and preparation and so the rest of us prepared things to display at the show.  My piano students performed for their first audience.  I showed a couple paintings of mine and took along some other creative projects.  Elise, William and Allen displayed some paintings.  (See below).  The bummer of the night was Brent was sick all day today and unable to attend the show to see all his hard work pay off!  The turn out was incredible and Elise and I enjoyed our time at the show.  We heard Broadway, opera, orchestra, band, piano duets and solos, violin solos, guitar, a percussion band (the food storage band), a family of singers and many others.  Our time was certainly well spent!

William's Debut Painting

This is William's debut painting. We haven't titled it yet.  He and Allen really seemed to enjoy doing these.  I painted the canvas blue before they started and then helped them get the paint on the fan brush but they did the rest!  It was really fun to watch how they paint completely uninhibited.

Allen's Debut Painting

This is Allen's debut painting.  We haven't given it a title yet.  He actually sat on my lap while he painted but I was able to catch him with the brush in hand while I was up getting the white paint.

Rapunzel Series

These are Elise's paintings debuted at the ward talent show.  They are from her Rapunzel series of paintings.

Brave Halloween

We went for Halloween as the Brave family this year (minus a triplet).  My very talented mother made our costumes and we were the talk for the Halloween party in our ward.  It was really good we went that night because the storm trouble with the hurricane prevented us actually getting out on Halloween.  The pics are a bit grainy because the lighting wasn't ideal in the cultural hall but here they are anyway.

Snow

I guess I should have brought these plants in on Saturday.  As you can see our snow is not overly remarkable it's just really wet and heavy.  We've had the power go out several times but it keeps coming back on thank heaven!  I think Utah is the only state that we've lived in that knows how to plow roads...

Update

Just wanted to let everyone know that so far we are doing fine.  There is a lot of wet snow on the ground but for now we still have power and heat, etc.  Brent made it to work this morning.  Being Brent, he had to go knowing that his fellow officers from the night shift would really be in need of reinforcements because most officers had called in that they weren't coming.  Not sure when we'll see him or hear from him.  I do know that he made it to the institution this morning.

The schools are closed for today thank goodness so we are here at home.

Love you!

Allen is Two!

Allen enjoyed his second birthday with a Toy Story theme.  He really liked licking that Buzz Lightyear candle from his cake.  Woody and Buzz Lightyear have become big favorites at our house.  His cake was a disaster to look at but it tasted good!  Maybe next year mommy will get it right.

Happy Birthday!

Elise's Birthday Party

Elise had a great birthday party this year!  She enjoyed the company of five little girl friends and Oma here to celebrate with her.  She chose to have the Disney movie Brave as the theme for her party so the girls all made crowns and they took turns shooting the bow and arrow.  We had homemade pizza for lunch so that the girls could all choose their own toppings and the spinach artichoke dip Elise likes.  Happy 7th birthday Elise!

Photo Op

These pictures are not the greatest but they are at least new...not to spoil the surprise but there will be a copy of the trio picture in your Christmas card this year. lol

Elise

This is technically her kindergarten picture.  The one for first grade will have fewer teeth and shorter hair.
